The Institute of Paper Conservation has a few remaining places left
on the following courses which they have successfully been running
since 1995

Business Management Courses
2 one-day courses for conservators
Worcester Management Centre,
Crowngate, Worcester
February 7 and 26, 2002

The fee for each day course is UKP105 which will include coffee,
tea, lunch and handouts. The day will start at 1015 and finish about
1715. Information about accommodation can be obtained from the IPC

Day 1: February 7, 2002
Communicating Skills

After this course participants will:

    a.  understand the meaning of effective communication, the
        communication cycle, breakdowns and barriers to

    b.  have developed and practised the skills of effective
        communication - listening, questioning, giving and receiving
        feedback, body language.

    c.  be able to communicate assertively

    d.  be confident in their ability to deal with a range of
        different situations and people.

    e.  appreciate the range of methods of communication and the
        most appropriate for different purposes.

Day 2: February 26, 2002
Negotiating and Advising

After this course participants will:

    a.  have developed and practised the skills to advise and
        negotiate successfully

    b.  be able to plan and prepare for negotiation

    c.  be able to stage a successful negotiation

    d.  feel confident in the ability to advise and negotiate in a
        range of situations.
