West Dean College - Open Day
Wednesday, 6 February 2001, 10:30am to 4pm
Conservation and restoration programmes
Graduate, postgraduate and professional development diplomas

An Open Day will be held at West Dean College, Chichester, England,
on Wednesday 6 February 2002, 10.30 to 4.00. This will be an ideal
opportunity for prospective students on our conservation and
restoration programmes to visit the purpose-built workshops and to
meet with current students and tutors.

West Dean College offers specialist training in the conservation and
restoration of books, ceramics, antique clocks, fine metalwork and
antique furniture. These courses are recognised by leading public
and private sector organisations for their high quality resources
and advanced level skills and the postgraduate diplomas are
validated by the University of Sussex. The College offers funding
advice and some bursaries are available.

The small number of students per course allows for a high level of
personal tuition and students learn by working on objects of
historical importance from museums and private collections. Tutors
are practising professionals who continue working to commission
alongside the students, thus providing an invaluable insight into
the commercial world of conservation and restoration.
