Sara Roby Objects Conservation Fellowship NB: Deadline December 21,2001 The Smithsonian American Art Museum is currently accepting applications for the Sara Roby Foundation Fellowship to be awarded in December 2001 and begin in February/March 2002. The Fellowship will provide excellent hands-on treatment experience through preparation of a large number of objects for the Museum's Luce Foundation Center for American Art, a visible storage facility to open in late 2004. The collection comprises the gamut of American sculpture, from folk art, 19th and 20th century bronze and marble sculpture, to contemporary objects, and modern craft objects. The $20,000 stipend offers opportunities for 2 six-month fellowships or 1 one-year fellowship. Eligibility: Recent graduates of conservation programs and current conservation students as well as motivated pre-program applicants are encouraged to apply. Candidates must have excellent hand skills and substantial experience working with art. Previous experience in conservation is desirable. Fluency in English and good writing skills are essential.
