Summer internship in Objects Conservation

New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic
Preservation's Peebles Island Resource Center is offering a
summer internship in Objects Conservation. The stipend for this
eight-week internship is $3000. Applicants must have completed
at least one year of a conservation graduate program.

This intern project is the conservation treatment of a pair of
early 20th century, two-foot tall, pull-toy horses. These toys
were used by the last children to be raised at Clermont,
manorial home of the Livingstons, a prominent New York State
family. The project will entail thorough documentation and
research of the toy horses, as well as the execution of their
treatment. The intern will develop his or her own treatment
proposal and work plan. One goal of the treatment will be the
replacement of the missing hide coverings. The intern will work
under the guidance of the Objects conservator. However,
self-motivation and the ability to work autonomously will be
    expected.

Summer internship in Textile Conservation

New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic
Preservation's Peebles Island Resource Center is offering a
summer internship in Textile Conservation. The stipend for this
eight-week internship is $3,000. Applicants must have completed
at least one year of a conservation graduate program or have had
at least one full-time year of apprenticeship training in a
    textile conservation lab.

The intern will work with the Textile Conservator and Assistant
Textile Conservator on the New York State Battle Flag
Preservation Program. Projects will include documentation and
stabilization treatments of Civil War flags from the collection
of the New York State Division of Military and Naval Affairs.
