The Field Museum is offering 2 positions of 9-12 months duration for
conservators to participate in an exhibition pest management
program. The conservators will: 1) participate in a Pest Management
project addressing infestation in the Tibet Exhibition cases, 2)
with the Exhibition Collection Manager and Exhibits Maintenance
staff, participate in deinstalling and freezing (as necessary)
artifacts in the affected cases, 3) conduct examination,
documentation and treatment of affected Anthropology Department
objects under the supervision of the Chief Conservator, 4) provide
conservation advice to Exhibits staff on materials and procedures
related to establishing and maintaining proper environmental
conditions in the cases, 5) work with Exhibition staff in remounting
and reinstalling artifacts, 6) assist in developing procedures for
short and long term pest management in affected area, and 7) assist
in the operation and activities of the conservation laboratories
related to the project.

Candidates must have a graduate degree in Conservation or equivalent
training. A specialization in objects conservation and experience
with anthropological and natural history collections is preferred.
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, and
demonstrated conservation skills and knowledge are required.

A salary of $30,000 per annum and a competitive benefits package is
offered.
