Publication on effects of Light

The Getty Conservation Institute has just published "Effects of
Light on Materials in Collections: Data on Photoflash and Related
Sources," by Terry T. Schaeffer, in their "Research in Conservation
" series.  This paperback presents an extensive review of the
conservation and chemical literature on related subjects, with
evaluations of data from the point of view of the risks associated
with multiple short term exposures to light sources such as xenon
flash lamps and photocopier lamps.  Some background information--on
the physics of the interaction of light with materials and the
properties of some light sources, for example--is included, in order
to assist museum and archive professionals who evaluate the risks to
objects in their own collections.  More information on this
