Paper Conservation Technician Peebles Island Resource Center The Peebles Island Resource Center, located in Waterford, NY, seeks a part-time technician to rehouse works on paper from the collection of Olana State Historic Site, including works created by Frederic E. Church as well as those collected by him. The technician will work under the supervision of paper conservator Marie Culver. The successful candidate will demonstrate good manual skills and careful attention to detail through a portfolio and references, and must also be able to cut board stock and assemble standard size storage units repetitively. Previous experience working with museum collections, and an undergraduate degree in studio art, art history, or chemistry, are desirable though not required. This position would be suitable for a candidate who wishes to gain experience for a future career in conservation or preservation. It is a half-time position running from October 2001 through September 2002.
