Senior Staff Assistant Buffalo State College Buffalo NY Buffalo State College (BSC) invites applications for the position of senior staff assistant to the Director of the college's Art Conservation Department. The department is a three-year master's degree program offering instruction in the theory and practice of the conservation of works of art and other cultural objects. Working under the direction of the Director, the appointee will be responsible for initiating, prioritizing, and managing multiple administrative and project-related tasks to include budget management; coordination of external communications; researching and assisting with the preparation of grant proposals; event planning; and coordinating facilities maintenance. Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree and have two or more years of professional experience in higher education and or the museum environment. Experience with budget and office operations are essential as are excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to provide positive support to faculty, staff and students. Also required are demonstrated fluency in a variety of software programs including MS Word, Excel, Access and/or other database management and desktop publishing software, and commitment to the college mission. Preference will be given to applicants with graduate course work in conservation or a related field, experience in accounting/business communications, and/or experience working with professionals and educators in art conservation. Experience with desktop publishing and web design is also desirable.
