Microscopes

I've perused the DistList Archives in search of recommendations for
a binocular microscope for paper conservation purposes.  The most
recent applicable recommendations date from 1997 (that was in the
last century!) and I was wondering if anyone had more recent
suggestions.  We are planning a new lab and while I would like a
good instrument on a mobile stand, I realize that may not be
financially feasible.  I therefore would be interested in
recommendations addressing stationary as well as mobile units.

Since the DistList will be on hiatus and I'm anxious to get this
research underway, I'd be grateful if you could contact me directly
by email, phone, or Fax.  I'll summarize for the List when Walter
returns.
