Workshops on disaster response

UMCA's Department of Field Services is pleased to announce the
upcoming statewide workshops entitled: Disaster Response: The
Critical First 48 Hours.

Workshops will cover all aspects of disaster response in the
critical 48 hours after a disaster occurs.  Topics covered include
health and safety, insurance, working with FEMA, setting up a
disaster response team, using a disaster preparedness plan,
identifying local resources, establishing a disaster response
equipment and materials cache, documenting a disaster and recovery
efforts, team building exercises including a practical disaster
response scenario.  The workshop curriculum is based upon the
national disaster response workshops sponsored by the Foundation of
the American Institute for Conservation, and each of the presenters
are instructors for these national workshops.

Workshop presenters include Bob Herskovitz, Director of Conservation
Outreach Services at the Minnesota Historical Society, Spencer
Stehno, Director of Security at the Milwaukee Public Museum and Neil
C. Cockerline, Director of Field Services at UMCA.

    St. Paul, Minnesota
    August 23-24, 2001

Workshops will be limited to 20 participants.  Fees for UMCA
members, site staff, Milwaukee Public Museum Staff, NDSHS staff,
Blanden Memorial Art Museum Staff and Mt. Rushmore National Memorial
Staff will be $150.00, for non-members $200.00.  For more
