Conservation Housekeeping Co-Ordinator Hampton Court Palace Salary: 19,009 - 24,058 UKP pa Historic Royal Palaces is the organisation responsible for conserving, maintaining and presenting some of the world's most famous heritage sites, including the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace State Apartments, Kew Palace and the Banqueting House, Whitehall. We now need a Conservation Housekeeping Co-ordinator to support Historic Royal Palaces' fast developing conservation housekeeping section. This new post will work with the Head of Conservation Housekeeping to shape, co-ordinate and maintain: the section's work schedules; the office-based systems to manage its conservation work; its procedures for environmental monitoring, collection care routines, and health and safety; the in-house training programmes; and the section's contribution to HRP's interpretative and educational goals. You will personally be responsible for organising aspects of the section's rolling programme of commissioned conservation treatment work. In addition to preparing reports and specifications on behalf of the Head of Conservation Housekeeping, you will research and disseminate information about professional conservation developments. In order to succeed in this role, you will have thorough understanding of preventative conservation and an introductory knowledge of object conservation treatments, obtained through job experience at a heritage institution and a degree in conservation. We will look for a proven track record in organising or administering conservation projects and/or implementing various conservation systems and procedures at an independent level. Excellent organisational, writing and computer skills are essential, as well as the ability to carry out focused research. Teamwork, a flexible approach and the ability to communicate effectively will be necessary.
