Textile Conservators
Historic Royal Palaces

In the Textile Conservation Studio we preserve some of the UK's
most precious and vulnerable works of art--many of which have been
on display for centuries. Now we need more professionals to help us
meet this significant challenge. We have opportunities to work on
the conservation of large-scale tapestries, textile furnishings and
costumes. The positions call for individuals with proven experience
and a strong theoretical knowledge of conservation science,
principles and ethics.

Dependent upon your skills and experience and knowledge, there is
scope for managing major projects and developing staff. We also
look to everyone in the team to play an active part in building the
Studio's reputation as a world class textile conservation service.
Good problem solving and communication skills are essential,
together with a well-organised and self-motivated approach. A
formal qualification in textile conservation would be ideal, and you
should either be accredited or actively working towards
accreditation.
