Paper Conservator West Lake Conservators Ltd. West Lake Conservators seeks a second paper conservator to join its staff. Works treated include fine prints and drawings. Maps, archival materials, 3 dimensional paper objects and parchment pieces also comprise a substantial percentage of projects requiring treatment. Periodically, opportunities arise to engage in surveys and grant funded projects. The successful applicant must be a specialist in treating fine art on paper and capable of conserving a broad range of archival, paper-based materials. Independent research and contributions to our field are encouraged as is public education and outreach. Candidate must have proficient conservation skills within their specialty, a graduate level degree in conservation, or equivalent knowledge and the ability to work independently. Computer skills are essential. Salary is commensurate with experience. Benefits include health insurance, bonuses and a SEP IRA plan. Interviews may be scheduled for the AIC conference in Dallas. The position will remain open until filled. West Lake Conservators is a respected private practice specializing in the conservation of paintings, books, paper and frames, preservation framing, and archival mounting of textiles. Founded in 1975 by Susan Blakney, AIC and IIC Fellow, WLC has established an excellent clientele of small to mid-sized museums, historic societies, university collections, and private clients. Plans are underway to build a 6,000 square foot conservation facility with a 1000 square foot loft paper lab. Conservators are supported by an office manager and computer network (Win95/Novell) utilizing Microsoft and QuickBooks Pro software.
