Wine stain on paper

I just got a watercolor in with boxed red wine staining.  It has
dried leaving nice purple stains running vertically and pooling at
the bottom. Does anyone have any suggestions for removing the
staining that would not involve an immersion bath since the
watercolor itself is soluble?
