Maintenance schedule

Does anyone have a maintenance schedule for room cleaning, including
procedures, cleaning materials used, and timetable they would be
willing to share?

Our local history/genealogy room is located within our public
library and is rather small (no more than 15 feet by 20 feet). We
have an HVAC (Humidity, Ventilation, Air Conditioning) system, but
the room is not "airtight," so the humidity isn't well maintained.
However, we do have a regular cleaning program. To my dismay, our
maintenance man, who has no experience handling fragile materials,
does the cleaning, including vacuuming books and so on.

I understand it is advisable to use a hepa vacuum for book cleaning,
shelf cleaning, and so on. Some questions I have are: who does the
cleaning at your facility? How often do you dust? How often do you
dust off (or vacuum) each individual book? Do you have a checklist
for areas to be cleaned? How important is it to use a hepa vacuum?
