Furniture Conservator - Connemara, Ireland The Conservation and Restoration Center for Furniture and Wooden Artefacts Letterfrack, County Galway, Ireland An experienced conservator/restorer with well-developed bench skills and good problem solving abilities is required to join our team here in Connemara on the West Coast of Ireland. The Conservation and Restoration Centre is purpose-built and very well furnished with a range of modern machinery and scientific equipment, although the emphasis is on high quality bench-work. We undertake a wide range of work from vernacular/folklife furniture and objects through to fashionable fine furniture and the conservation and restoration of architectural joinery and historic interiors. We can offer superb working conditions in a clean, modern environment situated within the dramatic and beautiful landscapes of Connemara. The CRC is a new venture that sets the benchmark for furniture conservation in Ireland and we seek a talented individual who can help us continue to develop our future. As the nature of our work varies you need to be adaptable but you will be encouraged to develop your own abilities and acquire new skills. The ability to work to deadline and within estimate whilst maintaining a sound ethical approach is essential. Our clients include the National Museum of Ireland, Historic Houses, dealers and private clients and collectors. As the service we offer is nation wide some travelling and on-site work should be anticipated. This post will be on a two-year contract basis with the potential for renewal. Salary from IR#17,550 pa.
