Internship in Textile Conservation

    New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic
    Preservation's Peebles Island Resource Center is offering a
    summer internship in Textile Conservation. The stipend for this
    eight-week internship is $2750. Applicants must have completed
    at least one year of a conservation graduate program or have had
    at least one full-time year of apprenticeship training in a
    textile conservation lab.

    The intern will work with the Textile Conservator and Assistant
    Textile Conservator on the New York State Battle Flag
    Preservation Program. Projects will include documentation and
    stabilization treatments of Civil War flags from the collection
    of the New York State Division of Military and Naval Affairs.

Internship in Objects Conservation

    New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic
    Preservation's Peebles Island Resource Center is offering a
    summer internship in Objects/Painting Conservation. The stipend
    for this eight-week internship is $2750.  Applicants must have
    completed at least one year of a conservation graduate program.

    The intern will work with members of both the Objects and
    Paintings Conservation staff in the treatment of a gilded and
    painted leather screen. The four-panel screen has been worked on
    by previous conservation interns. The goal of this year's
    project would be to complete the cleaning of the remaining two
    panels. The intern would review previous cleaning methods and
    develop their own method and procedure for cleaning the gilded
    and painted surface.
