The Cline Library, Special Collections and Archives Department
invites applications for:  The Elizabeth M. and P.T. Reilly
Internship.  The preferred candidate will be a graduate student in
history or information science working toward a career in archives
management or a Native American tribal member engaged in archival
pursuits.

Summer 2001:  SCA is interested, over the next several years, in
building and disseminating a collection of materials concerning the
historic and contemporary role of fire on the Colorado Plateau,
including such topics as economic impact, forest management,
national and local policy formulation, ecological consequences, and
the social history of fire crews.

This internship will offer the opportunity to gain practical
experience in the following areas:

    *   identification and acquisition of primary research materials
    *   collection of oral histories
    *   development of public outreach products (lecture series,
        exhibit storyline)
    *   arrangement and description of manuscript and photograph
        collections

The Reilly intern will be expected to work 40 hours per week for 10
weeks, preferably from June 5 to August 8, 2001.  Dates are
reasonably negotiable.  Some flexibility of work hours.

Stipend:  $3,000 (no benefits included) to be paid bi-weekly.
On-campus housing will be available ($300 for 10 weeks).  The
successful candidate must be willing to relocate to Flagstaff,
Arizona for ten weeks and underwrite his or her own food, lodging,
travel, and transportation to work.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required:

    *   ability to work as part of a team

    *   strong oral and written communication skills

    *   basic word processing and Internet searching skills

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Preferred:

    *   knowledge of the history of the Colorado Plateau
