Conservation Technician

Permanent fulltime position

Auckland Museum is seeking a person to assist in the conservation of
collection objects through preventive conservation methods and minor
conservation treatment. Reporting to the Senior Conservator, the
successful candidate will undertake a variety of tasks including
preparation of objects for exhibition, packing objects for
transportation, ordering and maintaining conservation supplies and
equipment.

Experience and Training

    *   At least 3 years experience working at a technical level in
        a museum, gallery or related institution
    *   Chemistry training, preferably to university level
    *   Current Driver's License

Skills and Abilities

    *   Strong organizational and communication skills, as well as
        ability to work effectively in a small team

    *   Capacity to work independently on repetitive tasks for long
        periods of time

    *   Specialized knowledge of conservation materials used in
        storage and display of museum artefacts

Starting salary early NZ$30,000s, dependent on skills and experience
