The "Maitrise de sciences et techniques de conservation des biens
culturels ", Paris I Pantheon--Sorbonne University organizes a third
workshop:

    From East to West: Japanese Conservation Techniques - Western
    Prints and Drawings
    Paris, France
    September 10th - September 21st 2001

Aims: Develop for Western paper conservators the Japanese
conservation techniques adapted to their own needs.
Workshop designated for paper conservators.
Trainers: One conservator of oriental paintings and one conservator
of Western prints and drawings.
Language: English.
Number of participants: 10 to 12.
Deadline: May 1st 2001.

The course is definitely practical. Syllabus includes: presentation
of tools and materials, paper cutting and paper sheets assembling,
lining techniques of small size and oversize items, use of karibari,
reinforcement techniques, bamboo tool making and a one day visit of
Japanese paintings collections.
