Getty Conservation Institute

The Getty Conservation Institute (GCI), located in Los Angeles and
one of the operating programs of the J. Paul Getty Trust, serves the
international conservation field by working strategically to advance
practice in the profession.  In partnership with other Getty
programs and with institutions internationally, the GCI seeks to
develop, apply, and disseminate appropriate and sustainable
solutions to unsolved problems in the conservation field.  GCI
activities include scientific research, education and training,
dissemination of information, and carefully selected, model field
projects. The GCI Education Group is newly established to meet
far-reaching and integrated education and training needs in the
conservation field and to provide leadership in the sphere of
conservation education worldwide.

The Head of Education will plan, manage, and evaluate the activities
of the Education Group, working cooperatively with the GCI's other
departments (field projects, science, information and
communications, and administration) in the development of policies
and programs.  The convening of international meetings around
critical topics, the creation of programs for the professional
development of conservation professionals, and the commissioning and
creation of publications and other texts to advance conservation
practice are likely to be a focus of the position.  The successful
candidate will have a graduate degree, preferably a Ph.D., and a
minimum of ten years experience in conservation, the humanities,
education, or other related fields. The individual will also have a
demonstrated ability to manage people, programs and budgets. Fluency
in Spanish, French, or Italian preferred. An excellent benefits
