Subject: Publication on conservation resources
The Washington Conservation Guild is pleased to announce the recent publication of Conservation Resources for Art and Antiques. In 1998, The Washington Conservation Guild undertook the publication of this resource as part of its public education program. The primary objective of this publication is to link those in need of conservation services with those who provide such services in the Washington and Baltimore area. We have sought to produce a comprehensive reference that describes conservation practices, gives guidance on finding reputable help, and lists local conservators with descriptions of their backgrounds and area of specialties. The essays in this reference guide are written by conservators and provide valuable information on preservation principles for various materials including paintings, metals, stone, textiles, photographs, books, ceramics, furniture, graphics and more. The essays also present practical information on why, when, and how to seek help from a conservator. The book retails for $ 16.95 or $ 20.00 if ordered by mail to cover postage and handling.
