The National Archives of New Zealand / Te Whare Tohu Tuhituhinga O
Aotearoa (Heritage Group, Department of Internal Affairs) invites
applications for the position of Conservator based at the Head
Office in Wellington, with occasional travel to Regional Offices in
Auckland, Christchurch and Dunedin.

The vacancy is in the Preservation Services team. Responsibilities

through laboratory work, condition surveys, supervising projects,
disaster planning and response, and training for archivists and
technicians. External consultancy projects may also be undertaken
including building and condition surveys, disaster planning, salvage
advice and assistance.

While laboratory work is usually carried out on paper-based archives
in individual specialist areas, project and conservation management

and an opportunity to develop new skills.

The Department has an Equal Employment Opportunities policy. Salary
is broadbanded in grades 7, 8 and 9, depending on experience.
