Re: Mary Harris-Serrao's inquiry about the Civil War sword.  No
treatment should be done without a conservator for either the sword
or the sheath.  I would suggest using the FAIC referral list.

Anyone who is not a conservator who reads this list should make note
of this service.  It is operated out of the AIC office 202-452-9545.
In addition to names of conservators in the appropriate specialty
and geographical area, the office sends out information on how to
choose a conservator, etc., and also has brochures for owners with
guidelines about the care of different kinds of objects. AIC/FAIC
