Call for Papers CAC 25th Annual Conference and Workshop The Canadian Association for Conservation of Cultural Property will be holding its 25th Annual Conference on May 28-30, 1999, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Conference papers are invited on all aspects of museum, archival and fine art collections. A poster session, trade fair and tours are planned to accompany the sessions. Conference Abstracts of 250 to 400 words must be submitted by the 31st of December 1998. Electronic submissions on disk in ASCII, WordPerfect or through e-mail are preferred. Workshop sessions will focus on identification, assessment and mitigation of known and potential health and environmental hazards related to conservation treatments, collections and site care. Solutions on how to make sites and collections safe and accessible will be also examined. The main themes of the workshop will be: Examples of "greener" or less-toxic alternatives in treatment and display of collections Construction/renovation of heritage facilities Caring for hazardous collections and sites Disaster recovery of biologically and chemically damaged collections Demonstrations and/or displays of safety equipment and procedures are planned to accompany the sessions.
