I use Beva Film very often in the conservation of paintings and I
can tell you that it does not smell at all. Sorry, but I do not know
what causes the smell of Beva 371. I have always thought that it was
some kind of solvent, so when I use it I do always wear a mask. Beva
film is easier to use but I find that its adherence is poorer. It
tends to remain in the surface so it is more reversible than Beva
371. I use each one of them for different purposes and I like both
of them, but the results are quite different.
