Collections Conservator
Ohio University Libraries

Ohio University Libraries seeks a Collections Conservator, with
supervisory responsibility for the Conservation Unit, Preservation
Department. The Conservator performs an array of repairs and
conservation treatments, following national guidelines and
standards, in a production setting. Assists in the management of the
Conservation Unit, and reports directly to the Head of the
Preservation department. $29,207 minimum, DOQ; Excellent benefits
package. Position available immediately. Ohio University Libraries,
a member of the Association of Research Libraries, houses over two
million volumes. The Preservation Department is located in a newly
renovated, 2,600 sq.ft. space in the Library Annex, approximately 2
miles from the Athens campus. Funding for the department is
supplemented by a $1 million Preservation Endowment. Ohio University
Libraries is a member of the Ohio Preservation Council, a statewide
consortium of preservationists and conservators.Information  about

Bachelor's degree required, with two or more years equivalent
experience through training and/or benchwork; knowledge and
experience in ethics, practices, techniques employed in preservation
of research library materials, of current conservation principles,
practices and procedures; excellent manual dexterity and the ability
to independently evaluate and treat library material; ability to
communicate effectively with library staff at all levels, as well as
colleagues from the university community and externally, and
experience with staff training and supervision. ALA-accredited MILS
or equivalent preferred. A portfolio of successful collections
conservation treatments is required at interview.
