Four conservators (part-time) --one each for the National Trust's Devon, East Midlands, Yorkshire and North West Regions. Four trained and experienced Conservators specialising in preventive conservation are required to play important and challenging roles in the preservation of historic houses and their collections for public access. The Conservators will each be responsible for the preventive conservation and housekeeping standards at a variety of properties, and will be the first line of conservation support for their respective Regions. The work is wide-ranging and will include environmental monitoring, storage and protection of contents during building works, supervision of in-situ conservation work, project management, preparation of conservation budgets, planning and commissioning remedial treatments. Education to graduate level, a professional qualification in conservation, and 3-5 years work experience are essential, but equal emphasis is placed on organisational skills, the ability to promote the interests of conservation, and to motivate, teach and develop staff at all levels. Starting salaries: Pounds Sterling 16,770 per annum (pro rata). The posts in the Devon and Yorkshire Regions are each four days per week, in the North West Region three days per week, and in the East Midlands Region (sharing an existing post) also for three days per week.
