Storage of matchbooks

The San Francisco Airport Museum has received many hundreds of
matchbooks.  While collectors, we have learned, frequently remove
the matches, our curatorial preference is to retain them.  Has
anyone experimented with various methods to make matches
non-inflammable?  Any thoughts on storage packages?  (We are
currently looking at polypropylene slide and card keepers, but
thought these could be improved upon.)  Many thanks for your
suggestions.
