Books Etc.: The Battle to Gain Control of Non-Print Media
Videotapes, CDs, audiotapes, computer disks, and their accompanying
books and boxes increasingly confound library staff responsible for
their labeling, processing, and preservation.  What better place to
discuss these issues than at an archives devoted to collecting and
preserving the multi-media of the New Hampshire Presidential
Primaries!

10 - 10:30  Registration/coffee
10:30-10:45 Introductions and Announcements
10:45-11:15 Overview of the Library and Archives of the New
            Hampshire Political Tradition by Michael York, Librarian

11:15-1:00  Discussion on workflow and management issues led by
Barbara Sagraves of Dartmouth College Library and Oliver Cutshaw of
Harvard College Library Discussion of physical processing, housing,
and preservation issues led by Nancy Schrock of Harvard College
Library and Eric Alstrom of Dartmouth College Library

Please bring examples of solutions (or problems) that have developed
in your library.  We will have examples of premade enclosures from
various vendors and the handouts from the CAPNET (Capitol Network)
program "Those Pesky Accompanying Materials" to share with you.

Lunch on your own  (a list of restaurants will be given out)

The Library & Archives of the New Hampshire Political Tradition is
located in the New Hampshire State Library in Concord.  The
Library's mission is to collect, organize, and make available their
comprehensive collection of election campaign papers and
paraphernalia from half a century of New Hampshire presidential
primary history.  Books, periodicals, audio and videotapes, position
papers, strategy memos, photos, bumper stickers, posters, radio & tv
advertisements, campaign buttons and much more are collected and
housed in the library.
