Salary commensurate with experience

Responsibilities: One year contract appointment to participate in a
cooperative grant to work with the Special Collections Department
Head to appraise, process and preserve an important subdivision of
the USDA History collection and related items in the National
Agricultural Library's Special Collections.

Qualifications: Required:  ALA-accredited Master's degree in Library
Science or MA in History with two years of comparable work
experience in a recognized research library or archives.
Demonstrated ability to evaluate archival collections and to write
proposals, recommendations, etc. for processing them.  Demonstrated
knowledge of special collections materials. Knowledge of the
appropriate solutions for the preservation and conservation of
special collections materials.  Experience re-housing special
collections.  Knowledge of archives ethics, principles, and
practices, and their appropriate application.  Strong interpersonal
skills including the ability to communicate effectively both orally
and in writing; strong analytical skills.  Demonstrated ability to
work independently and to exercise sound judgement.

Experience Desirable:  Management of archival or special collections
projects.  Supervision of staff or students.  Ability to work with
word processing and database software.  Familiarity with digital
technologies.

Benefits: 22 days annual leave and 3 personal days; 15 paid
holidays; 15 days sick leave.
