Year 2000 problem

My institution has just asked me to develop contingency plans for
the possibility of systems malfunctions caused by the Y2K bug.  Both
the security and HVAC controls systems have been cited as possible
victims.  It has also been suggested that our electric utility
provider may experience unforeseeable difficulties on January 1,
2000, that could of course impact upon the museum's systems.

I am not aware that this topic has been raised in the conservation
or museum community.  I would like to know if others are involved in
similar efforts and hope they can pass on whatever wisdom they may
have.
