Tin pest

From: Jessica Johnson <Jessica_Johnson>

Does anyone have personal experience with (or even legends) about
"tin pest" or "tin disease"? This is a deterioration process that
occurs through a change in crystal state when tin is stored below 13
degrees C. I'm especially interested to hear if it showed up from
historical collections that might have been stored in barns or out
buildings where things were exhibited/stored outdoors year round or
from something forgotten in a freezer for pest control. Thanks,

Jessie Johnson
