Collections Care Coordinator

New York University seeks an energetic and committed professional to
serve as Collections Care Coordinator for NYU's campus in Florence,
Italy--Villa La Pietra.  The centerpiece of the campus is the main
Villa, which dates to the 15th century, and contains an important
collection of Renaissance paintings, sculpture and decorative arts.
The initial appointment will be for one year with the possibility of
a one-year renewal.  The incumbent will work with the Executive
Director of La Pietra, other senior NYU officials, faculty at NYU's
Institute of Fine Arts and other experts and consultants to
establish a basic collections care program; manage the program;
supervise the housekeeping staff in their work related to the
collection; monitor the general environment; generate collection
documents and assist with the catalog; respond to routine inquiries;
provide educational tours of the Villa; coordinate construction
issues as they relate to the collection; and assist in various
conservation projects such as conservation assessments of specific
portions of the collection, and educational programs.  The incumbent
will report to the Executive Director of La Pietra and work closely
with the Vice President for Academic Development at NYU, the
Curatorial Consultant, the Conservation Consultant for La Pietra,
and the Architect of Record for the Villa, as well as students,
other administrators, and contractors.

Candidates should have a graduate degree in Museum Studies or a
related field, or its equivalent; general knowledge of collections
management and conservation issues and practices; solid computer
skills in both word processing and data base operations; three to
five years of post-graduate experience; fluency in English and a
working knowledge of Italian.  Some experience in art handling is
desirable.

Salary is competitive and includes NYU benefits, and one annual
round trip airfare.
