Celluloid ribbon

I work at the Wisconsin Veterans Museum in Madison, WI. I am going
to be displaying a Grand Army of the Republic Reunion Ribbon. This
ribbon has a black silk background and a celluloid front piece. Have
there been any experiments with how to keep celluloid from rolling
up on itself? Is there any way to preserve celluloid to keep it from
getting brittle, rolling, etc.?
