Subject: Reproduction of museum objects
Stephen Fowles mentioned in his response to Marie Esteva's query that he was employing a laser scanning technique to obtain a three-dimensional surface maps of museum objects. I was wondering if he or anyone else on the DistList has had experience employing this technique on objects with highly lustrous surfaces, e.g. glass or highly polished metal. Is accurate mapping possible, or does the nature of the surface create unacceptable laser scatter?
