Textile Conservators and Technicians
National Museum of American History

National Museum of American History, Smithsonian Institution, offers
a rare opportunity to work on a project of national historic
significance.  The Star-Spangled Banner that flew over Ft. McHenry
will be conserved over a 4 year period in a custom lab on view to
the public.

Museum Technician

    Four (4) positions are being filled, ranging in salary from
    $21,421 to $34,487.  Successful applicants will have a knowledge
    of and experience with textile conservation practices, with
    emphasis on woolen textiles.  Position requires nights and
    weekends and physical abilities to work while lying
    down/sitting/standing for extended periods.  Also requires
    ability to move up to 60 pounds of fabric and equipment, and the
    ability to climb ladders.

Conservator

    Two (2) positions are being filled, ranging in salary from
    $32,457 to $42,198.  Successful applicants will have a knowledge
    of and experience with textile conservation practices, with
    emphasis on woolen textiles.  Position requires nights and
    weekends and physical abilities to work while lying
    down/sitting/standing for extended periods.  Also requires
    ability to move up to 60 pounds of fabric and equipment, and the
    ability to climb ladders.

Conservator

    $39,270 to $51,049.  Successful applicants will have a knowledge
    of and experience with textile conservation practices, with
    emphasis on woolen textiles.  Position requires nights and
    weekends and physical abilities to work while lying

    ability to move up to 60 pounds of fabric and equipment, and the
    ability to climb ladders.
