I have had good results using polyester resin. It can be tinted to
match color and transparency, doesn't yellow like epoxy, and is
reversible with acetone and methylene chloride. I recomend using a
"surfacing resin" which will cure to a hard, tack free surface. This
is hard enough to take a high polish, and soft enough to be finished
without damage to adjacent surfaces.
