Subject: Professional salaries
>Post-Graduate Internship in Textiles I continue to be astonished at the low salaries some institutions feel compelled to offer for professional people to handle their valuable materials. A textile conservator at the offered salary ($22,800) could be excused for thinking that they were considered next door to a tie-dyer or a dry-cleaner, either of which probably could make more money. The Gardner should know better. Pleading low funding is no excuse; it's a choice one makes. --pg Peter Graham Rutgers University Libraries 169 College Ave., New Brunswick, NJ 08901-1163 732-445-5908 Fax: 732-445-5888 *** Conservation DistList Instance 12:7 Distributed: Thursday, July 2, 1998 Message Id: cdl-12-7-007 ***Received on Thursday, 25 June, 1998
