Executive Director North Carolina Preservation Consortium 1 year appointment, Available Immediately Full Time; $30,000 per year, incentive bonus based on performance, health benefits. The North Carolina Preservation Consortium (NCPC) seeks an executive director to manage a member supported not-for-profit organization engaged in the preservation of historic and cultural resources. NCPC's mission is to educate, coordinate and leverage support for library, archival and records preservation in North Carolina. The Consortium is based in Durham, NC on the campus of North Carolina Central University. The Executive Director has primary responsibility for fundraising, grant writing, and administration of a sub-contracted workshop series. This position also responds to inquiries from librarians, archivists, and the North Carolina public regarding preservation and provides referrals to specialists in the field as necessary. Recent programs have addressed disaster preparedness and response, book repair, and the care and handling of library materials. The Consortium has conducted site surveys encompassing management, environmental monitoring, staffing, and collection issues related to preservation. Qualifications: Experience or formal training in not-for-profit management or library and archival practice is required. A successful candidate will have organizational and administrative skills as well as the ability to communicate clearly in writing and orally. A Master of Library Science degree and knowledge of preservation practices is preferred but not required. Management and fundraising qualifications will be considered in lieu of training or experience in libraries or archives. Applications will be accepted until position is filled.
