The meeting will feature a presentation by Ernst Becker, president
of Zentrum fur Bucherhaltung (ZFB) in Leipzig, Germany, on their new
paper-splitting machine, sleek new board-slotting machine, and their
deacidification unit (based on Battelle process). I have heard rave
reviews from several people who have seen this equipment
demonstrated. Mr. Becker will show a video tape of their facility
and equipment.

The second half of the meeting will be a discussion of the notion of
"compromise" in collections care. The informal discussion will be
led by Ethel Hellman, Collection Conservator at University of
Maryland, and Meg Brown, Collections Conservator at University of
Kansas.

This will be my last meeting as chairperson of this group, so we
will be electing a new chairperson. Come prepared to nominate
yourself or some other willing person.
