Mold

This enquiry is placed on behalf of a paintings restorer not on the
list who contacted us recently.

  What advice can anyone provide on processes, chemical or otherwise
  to eradicate active mould spores that cover and appear to have
  impregnated the face of an oil painting through to the reverse of
  the canvas. The painting in question is about 40 years old. On a
  similar vain, what might be used to remove active mould spores
  covering the reverse of a 200 year old oil painting.
