Recycled paper for photographic prints

I am a student taking a collection care and management class.  While
researching preservation/conservation methods of photographs, the
following questions came to mind.  Is recycled paper being used
today in the processing of "everyday" photographs?  What effect does
recycled paper have on this process?  Are there any studies being
conducted in this area?  Any information or sources you can direct
me to would be appreciated.
