Subject: Campaign Hat
During the renovation of a 1904 Fort Rosecrans, San Diego, Ca, building site, a felt campaign hat was brought to the attention of the Fort Guijarros Museum Foundation. There are many moth holes. Should the item be placed as soon as possible in a freezer to destroy any possible further infestations? What are the possibilities for conservation of the hat? Would blocking be a possibility? Are there any institutions who would offer advice? We are an all volunteer group who would be appreciative of any advice. Thank you.
