Lecturer Paintings Conservation University of Canberra Faculty of Applied Science $46713 - $55327 pa Reference No. 98/2026 The Lecturer in Painting Conservation will develop and teach paintings conservation at the Bachelor's degree level in the Conservation of Cultural Materials Course in the School of Resource, Environmental and Heritage Science. He/she will also supervise research by undergraduate and postgraduate students and undertake personal research in an appropriate field. Teaching will concentrate on the history and technology of paintings and materials used in paintings, the causes of deterioration, the materials and methods of painting conservation and introductory microscopy and photography. The Course has a laboratory specifically for teaching paintings conservation. You will have a degree in the conservation of cultural materials with a specialisation in paintings conservation, have in-depth experience in the conservation of Western easel paintings and have at least five years of experience in the conservation of traditional and modern paintings in a variety of media, styles and structure. A higher degree and previous teaching experience is highly desirable but not essential. Appointment will be initially for a period of 5 years.
