The V&A contains substantial collections of books primarily in the
National Art Library, but also from many other parts of the Museum's
collections for example Prints Drawings and Paintings Collection or
the Theatre Museum.

The Museum is seeking a Head of the Book Conservation Section, to
manage the studio, organise the flow of preservation and
conservation work and manage the other conservators; to supervise
interns and teach students. The postholder will carry out practical
book conservation to the highest standard and will advance research
into the materials and techniques of book conservation. The
postholder will represent book conservation across the Museum, and
in particular will be heavily involved with the proposed move of the
National Art Library to a new site in London.

To be considered the candidate must possess a minimum of five years'
book conservation experience, preferably including a recognised book
conservation qualification, proven practical ability, experience of
managing people and of managing workflow.

The post is in the Paper and Book Group of the Conservation
Department, based in new studios which have excellent facilities.
There is the potential for promotion to Band 3 (20,000 - 32,116
Pounds) on personal merit.
