Plastic pallets

Elaine Smyth asked about using plastics pallets in freezers. These
are regularly and almost invariably used in cold stores for
foodstuffs and in most food factories. They are normally made from
high density polyethylene or polypropylene, but there are
lightweight ones and ones made from mixed plastics waste available.
Problems are associated with "creep" i.e. very slow movement over
time when under a load and also a loss of impact strength in
sub-zero temperatures. You should specify that the pallets are to be
suitable for cold store, and that they are o.k. for storing, say,
1000 kg for as long as you need them under load. In Europe they sell
for about 50 Pounds ($80US)
