Double-sided tape

I'm afraid that there is no such product available. I would advocate
for this purpose a switch to japanese paper and wheat starch
paste--though for attaching double mats, one could go to linen tape,
since the tape is usually far away from the framed material.

If 3M does come out with a reversible & archival double-sided tape,
will someone let me know?
