Plextol B500 and Japanese (tissue) paper is used by parchment
conservators as a carrier for goldbeater skin for parchment repairs
with parchment size, once the repair is completed the paper can be
removed very easy from the goldbeater skin leaving the parchment
clean and very flat nice repair. The applications of plextol with
the tissue paper is done as followed, the paper is laid on top of a
glass covered with fresh (dilute 20% up to - 60 %)) plextol, this
will leave a thin shiny film on the paper, after the coated paper is
dry the goldbeater skin is placed on top of the paper and heat (65-68
deg C) and pressed together for 1-15 minutes.
