Subject: Copper oleates
I am wondering if any one has worked with or knows of research on the topic of copper oleates. These are substances that occur as a result of a reaction of copper and oil (i.e., linseed oil, poppy oil, etc.), in the context of oil paintings on copper. Apparently, in this reaction, the oil turns green, yet the ground and paint layers still adhere to the copper support.
